The title is a pun. It expresses our disappointment (a massive understatement given the need to adhere to an acceptable standard of political correctness) in the upcoming quarter-final match-ups of this US Open. Much worse than the fact that this US Open will for sure end in a massive anti-climax (such happening is still bearable, as it has happened a few times before without withholding entertainment completely), is that the only three watchable players are crammed into the top-half, leaving the bottom-half to be what Rovo partner Deepak calls 'a shit-swamp.'

Where are the likes of players like Berdych, Cilic, Wawrinka, Nishikori, or even Kyrgios? This is just such a disappointing tournament - Deepak (Rovo partner)

They have all by then been wiped out during and before the tournament, Deepak. In place of the spots traditionally taken up by tennis greats are vultures, as they desperately scramble for spots they could never have imagined attaining before, or again. Do not get me wrong, these players are professionals with the impeccable work ethnic and tennis profess demanded by their jobs; there is just a mismatch between their standards and the depth to which they have reached in this tournament. It is poor entertainment, to put it simply. We now let some facts do the rest of the 'mocking'...

  • Diego Schwartzman has never gone beyond the third round of a grand slam, and yet here he is, in the quarter-finals against Carreño Busta
  • Carreño Busta has reached the quarter-finals of Rolland Garros this year (his first) but has never played beyond the third round for the other grand slams he took part in, so reaching the quarter-finals here again was just weird...
  • The fact that these 2 first-time US Open quarter-finalists are matched against each other means that one of them would be a grand slam semi-finalist for the first time... weird...
  • Interestingly, Sam Querrey, is also a consistent third-rounder. The exception to his run-of-the-mill performance was his maiden grand slam semi-final at this year's Wimbledon (though very probably such appearance was only possible because of Andy Murray's hip injury). Another weird quarter-finalist indeed...
  • Kevin Anderson is the least weird of all the contenders, for he is a consistent fourth-rounder (with an exception at the 2015 US Open when Andy Murray suffered a strange loss to him). But we still find it very weird for him to be still remaining....
